NIKKI SIXX OF MOTLEY CRUE SET TO RELEASE MULTI FORMAT HEROIN DIARIES
Nikki Sixx of Motley Crue is set to release his new book The Heroin Diaries along with a soundtrack and new band, Sixx A.M. |
Nikki Sixx of Motley Crue is set to release his new book, The Heroin Diaries, and in a ground breaking move, the book will be accompanied by a multi media artistic endeavor that will feature a soundtrack, a hit new single, a book signing tour and his new band, Sixx A.M. The book chronicles a year in the life of Sixx, during his world of heavy metal superstardom and heroin addiction as the cofounder of the most legendary rock band of the eighties, Mötley Crüe. The Book features an original soundtrack and the first single ‘Life is Beautiful’ is already one of the most added singles in Rock radio. |
We caught up with Nikki Sixx to discuss the first of it’s kind multi platform book release, soundtrack and his excitement for his new band, Sixx A.M. which consists of Sixx, DJ Ashba and James Michael. |
“For us to be able to have a book and a soundtrack and a visual presentation and to be able to have these great partners to me it’s like a new way of doing things. We embrace it and again accidentally we became a band. We sort of had gone into this thing saying this is going to be a multi format artistic endeavor. We’re just going to follow our heart and do what ever we want to do.” |
The Heroin Diaries chronicles Nikki Sixx’s spiral into drug addiction as it chronicles a year in the life of a shattered rock star. In what made the project and the book more truthful for Sixx was the fact his family, friends and his band, Motley Crue, contributed passages to the book so readers could get a true sense for what the dark side of Nikki was all about. We also spoke with Sixx about the importance of having his friends and family contribute honestly to The Heroin Diaries. |
“That is an important part of the story to not have people going ‘It’s all good’ and ‘You’re wonderful’ because the truth is the most important thing. Not only with the music but with the book to get it out there so people can see what was really going on and it’s not all bad. I mean, there’s humorous parts of the book and there’s sad parts and there’s recovery involved. You now, I think that inspired us.” |
It was also announced that Nikki Sixx will be donating 25% of his proceeds from The Heroin Diaries to his ‘Running Wild in the Night’ Foundation, which works closely with The Covenant House, who goal is to provide homeless children basic necessities like food, clothes and shelter. We also talked with Sixx about why it’s so important for him to give back to The Covenant House, since he had a rough childhood to say the least and was at times homeless himself at a young age. |
“Covenant House doesn’t have government funding, so it’s through private donations that they are able to do this for the kids. So if I can not only donate but raise awareness so that other people will, it’s going to help these kids out.” |
The Heroin Diaries, the book, is set to hit the stores on September 18 and the accompanying soundtrack, which will be released on Eleven Seven Music hits stores August 21. Look for Sixx A.M., which consists of Sixx, DJ Ashba and James Michael, to announce a run of tour dates in support of The Heroin Diaries soon. Although Sixx admitted he never intended to take this project on the road, the more the band continued to write songs together the more solid material was written and the more he couldn’t stop the ‘accident’ from happening. Sixx A.M. had to narrow down what was two discs of all original music into one disc. Motley Crue fans will be happy to know the band has set aside December to get back into the studio to begin working on a new album. The band is also in the early pre production stages on their upcoming movie The Dirt, which is based on the book “The Dirt: Confessions of the World’s Most Notorious Rock Band.” With Sixx’s clothing line, Royal Underground also doing well look for quite a busy year once again from the insanely busy Nikki Sixx. |
