NICOLE KIDMAN MOTHERS IN MOVIES
Nicole Kidman seems to gravitate to films that explore motherly love. |
As the adoptive mother of Isabella and Connor with Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman knows all too well a mother’s fierce love for their child which is why she’s attracted to roles that explore that maternal connection. |
Nicole says that theme of maternal love is why she chose The Invasion as well as previous films. |
“What’s interesting to me is yeah the maternal love and the power. Well not even maternal love, just the power of extreme love. And I suppose that I’ve explored that in different films. The Others being one and this being another one. This one is having a child wrenched away from you whereas The Others were about these children I suppose in this terrible dire situation and the mother trying to deal with her obsessive love. So this is about a mother trying to I suppose keep her child close and safe which is what we all want to do as parents.” |
Nicole who performs car crashes in the film that would make a stunt man proud in an attempt to save her son from getting killed by the body snatchers says it’s remarkable how mothers can accomplish what is beyond them. |
“I suppose in my constant quest to understand love, all sorts of love. I suppose the power of that is what fascinates me and what I’m drawn to and what I will continue to be drawn to. You know I have two children so I understand the protection and the unconditional love and emotions that are attached to those little people.” |
Kidman’s son in the film is played by Jackson Bond making his feature film debut. Previously he was on the television series In Case of Emergency playing the son of Jonathan Silverman. The Invasion opens in theaters Friday, August 17th. |
