Nicolas Cage stars in The Wicker Man, based on the original 1973 British horror cult classic. Cage plays a cop who while looking into the disappearance of a young girl on a secluded island stumbles upon a pagan society existing in modern times. |
Cage got to indulge his love of motorcycles in the film as his character is also an avid rider. |
“It’s like a commune of people who are mostly controlled by the women on the island and they are farming bees to make honey and they make honey products. The irony is that Edward has an allergy to bees, bee stings so he’s walking into a bees nest.” |
Cage first became intrigued by the original film The Wicker Man starring horror legend Christopher Lee by his late friend, Johnny Ramone which left him with a profound feeling to produce the story and make it relevant to today. The Wicker Man opens Friday.rnrn |
“He’s a cop; he’s a motorcycle cop by choice. He likes to ride. He’s a good cop. He would be elevated to detective if he wanted to but he really likes to ride motorcycles so he’s very happy doing what he does. He’s the kind of man who has his beliefs and what he believes in is the law.” |
