NICKELBACK SONG STILL STINGS OF DIMEBAG DARRELL
Nickelback’s new album, All The Right Reasons, features the actual guitar work Dimebag Darrell, despite the guitar hero being killed over one year ago by a derranged gunman, while he played onstage with his new band, Damageplan. Due to miracles of technology, he appears on the track “Side Of A Bullet,” a song inspired by anger over the killing. |
Dime’s friend and Nickelback vocalist Chad Kroeger talks about how they brought Darrell back to life, if not for one song. |
“The…I mean we’ve got a song on the record, it’s “(On the) Side Of A Bullet” and it really sort of encapsulates my feelings towards that night. It’s not really a ballad. I’m really, really angry in the song and I wanted to express that. I definitley wanted to get that acrosss. We were very, very fortunate to get guitar outtakes from his guitar solos from some of the past records, Far Beyond Driven, Vulgar Display of Power, and piece those into a guitar solo that we’re very proud of. I miss him very much.” |
Nickelback’s Kroeger cemented his friendship with Darrell as he teamed up with Dimebag and Kid Rock for a version of Elton John’s “Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting,” which appears on the Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle soundtrack and as a bonus track on the expanded version of The Long Road. |
