NICKELBACK IS IDOL FOR DAUGHTRY
American Idol finalist Daughtry talks about his reason for doing American Idol and his rock idols, tourmates Nickelback. |
Chris Daughtry didn’t win American Idol, and that probably saved his credibility as a rock tinged pop artist. Daughtry, the band Chris was in at the time of the contest, will be opening for Nickelback starting July 1st in Halifax, Nova Scotia. |
Between the two albums, there’s been over six million sold, with the majority belonging to Nickelback’s latest effort All The Right Reasons. Daughtry talked about their tour mates. |
“Uh, we’re stoked. They’re an extremely successful band, and we’re honored to be a part of that. We can only hope that by next year at that time that we’re doing as well as they’ve done. I’m a fan, and it’s going to be really cool.” |
Daughtry was always a band oriented singer, and despite other contestants embarking on a purely solo journey, he decided to enter the biz in a band. Chris Daughtry talked about what he wanted out of American Idol. |
“I’m the same person now that I was when I went into that. I knew what I wanted and I knew why I went into it. I’ve been doing this ever since I was sixteen. It was weird for me because I was always used to having a band behind me. So to go on there and be naked on stage, so to speak, was a little weird for me. It was more about just seeing if people would appreciate what I did and seeing where it went after that. It hasn’t really changed much other than people know who I am now.” |
Daughtry was so successful on American Idol that he even got an offer to join the band Fuel. He turned that down, and is now a multi-platinum artist. You can catch the Nickelback and Daughtry tour in sheds this summer through July. Daughtry will then head out on solo dates in August. |
