NICKELBACK DOES NOKIA
Ozzy Osbourne will be honored at this year’s MAP Fund Benefit once again at Club Nokia in Los Angeles with special guest Slash, and at previous awards the du… |
Nickelback, Death Cab For Cutie, Sean Paul, and Mary J. Blige are among those that helped tape a new TV series the new Nokia Theater in New York City on September 27 for the Nokia Unwired show for MTV. It also featured such celebrities as Jeremy Piven, Angela Bassett, and commedian Sarah Silverman. |
Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger talked about how the band got involved in the concert: |
“A Phone. It was like, ‘Hey, do you guys want to come and play in New York?’ MTV invited us down to come down and play, and that was very flattering. And here we are.” |
With new rock acts being routed outside the New York City area, Kroeger said it’s good to know there’s another place to play. |
“Well, I mean, it’s just one more place to play, you know? And that’s great. It seems like the world is sort of losing its rock flavor, and there are a lot of live venues that are closing down. So, like I said a couple of minutes ago, it’s good to finally see one sprouting up. So, I’m behind this 100 percent.” |
Performances by Nickelback and the other artists on the bill will be featured on-air on MTV December 14. Earlier episodes were taped at other venues and the series starts October 5 and will air every Wednesday night. |
