NAOMI WATTS TAKES FIRST TIME SPIN ON MOTORCYCLE

Naomi Watts had never been on a motorbike before her role in Eastern Promises.

We’ve seen Naomi Watts’ baby daddy and fiancé Liev Schreiber tooling around the streets of New York on his motorcycle. Maybe he should’ve given Naomi a couple of lessons before she filmed her role in Eastern Promises.

In the film Naomi’s character uses a Russian-made vintage motorcycle to get around the streets of London. When director David Cronenberg sent her the photo of the bike, Watts hoped she’d be spending little time on the bike since it was her first time ever riding one.

“I’d never written a motorbike before and David sends me the picture and I’m thinking, ‘well I’ll probably have to do two yards on it and maybe not even that.’ Well I rode the motorbike once before I actually got onto set, one time.”

Naomi has to ride the motorcycle during a scene where it’s pouring rain, a definite don’t amongst experienced riders. She prides herself in staying on despite the wet pavement.

“And then I got to the set and of course the full wet down, wet roads on 400 pounds of steel and like 200 people standing by for a laugh including paparazzi. And I never had a proper go on this motorbike. I couldn’t believe it and there I was doing it through the streets of London. So that was quite a big scene, quite a big moment. That’s a moment that I was proud of I must say.”

Eastern Promises directed by David Cronenberg also stars Viggo Mortensen opening Friday, September 14th in theaters.
