MYA DISCUSSES LABEL CHANGE
50 Cent says Master P isn’t selling any CDs these days. |
R&B singer Mya is back with a new album and on a new label. The singer’s new album, Liberation, is slated to hit stores in November. Mya recently leaked a song from the project, “Ayo,” but the first official single from the project is “Lock You Down,” which was produced by Scott Storch. |
Liberation will be Mya’s fourth album but the singer actually recorded another album, Control Freak, last year for Interscope Records but she has since left the label and joined the roster of Motown Records. Mya explained that Control Freak will probably be released some time down the line and she shared her reasons for the label switch. She said, |
“Well I finished that album, that will come out one day. But I’m on a new page. It’s called Liberation and that’s my fourth album that’s gonna be released to the public. And I went through a transition fron Interscope to Motown. Interscope is becoming more of a rap rock label and Motown is a very comfortable home for me and R&B music. So I feel really good about my new situation and lots of support of love.” |
Mya’s previous releases include her self-titled 1998 debut, 2000’s Fear of Flying, and 2003’s Moodring. |
The singer relocated back to her hometown of Washington, DC earlier this year after spending several years living in Los Angeles. |
