MY AMERICAN HEART GETS LONGER TICKER FOR SECOND CD
With more time to devote to their songwriting craft, My American Heart discuss the progress they’ve seen on their second album ‘Hiding Inside Horrible Wheather’ |
San Diego’s own My American Heart are enjoying success after the release of their second full length album ‘Hiding Inside Horrible Weather’ and the band has also seen a lot of growth as song writers after having more time in the studio to work on their craft. After the band released their debut album in 2005 ‘The Meaning in Makeup’ along with a coveted win at Ernie Balls Battle of the Bands, they saw their fanbase grow after performing on the Warped Tour and Taste of Chaos Tour. But with the band’s release of their second full length album ‘Hiding Inside Horrible Weather’ the band finally was afforded the luxury of having time in the studio to truly work on their songs instead of always looking at the clock and the mounting costs in the studio. |
We caught up with Larry Soliman and Jesse Barrera of My American Heart to get their thoughts on finally having the time in the studio to work on their song writing. |
“The biggest thing was really, we took our time on this one. We had a lot more time. With the last one, we just got signed and we had about a month to write and record it. So we went in there and we were all like 16 and straight out of high school you know. Not even straight out of high school, we dropped out of high school. They were just like ‘Yeah, here’s the record deal. Come out with a record.’ We had a month to write it, we put it out and we felt kind of rushed. With this one we had about six months to write it and we had a great producer, whose name is James Paul Wisner.” |
So does the band ever have time to work on their songs or come up with new songs while on the road? |
“Oh yeah, not at all. Exactly, exactly. So, we had a couple of months at home so that was really good. With our last record I wrote a lot of the stuff on the road, and it’s really hard for me to write on the road. There’s so much going on between driving and playing shows we really don’t have time to sit down and really think about what you want to write. So we had some time at home to really think about what we wanted to write about and collect our thoughts, and it was really cool.” |
After the band’s successful California Love Tour which ended in December, My American Heart are currently touring Europe with The Blackout with dates extending until Febuary 10th in London. The band will then hit the road with Madina Lake and Aiden with dates beginning Febuarty 15th in Las Vegas, NV. The band has also announced they will be performing The Soundwave Festival in Australia with Incubus and The Offspring. Dates for The Soundwave Festival begin Febuary 23rd in Brisbane, Queensland and extends until March 3rd in Perth, Australia. The band will then head back to North America to finish up their tour with Madina Lake and Aiden, which concludes March 20th in Hartford, CT. |
