MURDER INC RECORDS CLOSE TO DISTRIBUTION DEAL WITH WARNER
Following the acquittal of Irv and Chris Gotti on federal money laundering charges, the brothers are ready to go back to work. The first order of business is finding a new distributor for their (Murder) Inc. Records label since the Island Def Jam Music Group announced last Thursday (December 4th) that they did not plan to renew their deal with the label. Chris Gotti told the New York Post, “We’re free finally. We have a lot of options and we’ll figure it out after the new year.” |
The Gottis are currently negotiating with EMI and the Warner Music Group but a music executive told the Post, “Warner is definitely where they’ll end up.” The Warner Music Group is helmed by Lyor Cohen who gave Irv Gotti his first deal for Murder Inc. Records at Def Jam. |
The Inc. Records released two greatest hits set this week, Ja Rule’s Exodus and Ashanti’s Collectibles. The label’s roster also includes: Black Child, Caddillac Tah, and Lloyd. |
