When it comes to movie awards only MTV can give out honors for best on-screen team, best villain, best hero, sexiest performance, best fight and best kiss to name a few of their distinctive categories. Anna Faris was nominated for her smooch with Chris Marquette in Just Friends but wasn’t counting on winning the golden popcorn statuette.

Anna’s instincts were right on as the 2006 MTV Movie award for best kiss went to Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger for their manly make-out in Brokeback Mountain beating out the competition which included Brad and Angie for Mr & Mrs. Smith.

“I’m not counting on it but I think I would definitely have to put it on my mantle. It’s not like an Oscar. It’s one that you could really be like this is something that is sort of goofy and fun.”

The nominees for best villain went to Cillian Murphy for Batman Begins, Ralph Fiennes for Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire, Tilda Swinton for The Chronicles of Narnia, Tobin Bell for Saw 2, and Hayden Christensen for Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith. Hayden nabbed the award for his wicked turn from the heroic Anakin Skywalker to the evil Darth Vader, a character that could’ve only come from the mind of its creator George Lucas whom Hayden humbly thanked.

“You know I said to Heath who’s not here, I’m speaking on both of our behalfs, but I said to him after we finished the scene that you saw if we don’t win the MTV Movie Award for Best Kiss that it wasn’t worth it. It’s worth it now. Yeah it’s definitely worth it. This is a real honor not just for me and Heath but for all of you that you picked this movie and this kiss over all the other ones. It’s a big deal. Thank you not just for me but from all those people struggling with love which is all of us as we continue to. Thanks.”rn

“This doesn’t suck. This is very cool because you guys are voting for it and so I want to thank you. I want to thank George Lucas for giving me the chance to play such a cool character. Or I should really be accepting this on his behalf really but nevertheless amazing. Thank you very much.”

The 2006 MTV Movie Awards airs June 8 at 9PM on MTV hosted by Jessica Alba.rn
