Mick Mars, Vince Neil, Tommy Lee and Nikki Sixx arrived in an old-time Dr. Feelgood ambulance and at the press conference they were asked about Cruefest’s possible success in a down economy. |
“We were just out last summer with Crue Fest 1, and the economy was pretty much the same as it is now. It didn’t seem like it affected it at all. People still want to go out and have a good time, listen to rock music and maybe forget about the shitty economy and have a few beers.” |
Backstage Tommy Lee, with Godsmack’s Sully Erna by his side, was asked by Artisan News if they felt that the economic climate put pressure on Motley Crue for a popular line-up of bands. |
“I don’t know about that. I think we always just try to stay focused on what’s important and that’s getting a bunch of bands together that have either inspired us or we like what they do, or they have great songs, or they’re friends and we and just try to make it the best experience possible for the summer. Summer is a good time, outdoors, got a bunch of great bands just ripping it.” |
At the press conference Erna was asked about going out with the Crue. |
“I already told Tommy, I’m buying a padlock for my dressing room door because I’m afraid if him sneaking into our (room)…(laughs). I think it’s going to be a really, really fun summer. I really am proud to be on this tour, and I’m excited to play with these guys. For a band like ourselves as well and being influenced at a very young age by bands like Motley Crue, they paved the way for big, fat, rock shows, and I really believe that’s what helped us along the way. Between bands like Crue and Aerosmith and all these bands that had a big, wowing kind of show, that really helped us see a vision as we became artists and what we wanted to do on a stage.” |
Meanwhile, CrueFest 1 will be coming out on DVD on March 24. The collection features Motley Crue as well as Papa Roach, Sixx:AM, and Trapt. |
