MOTLEY CRUE FEELGOOD ABOUT CRUEFEST AND NO OZZFEST?
Motley Crue talks about performing Dr Feelgood in its entirety and the lack of OzzFest on the scene. |
Fans who have seen Motley Crue recently may have reason to see them this summer and fill the void left by a once-again grounded OzzFest. Tommy Lee, Nikki Sixx, Vince Neil, and Mick Mars announced Crue Fest 2, with guest Godsmack, Drowning Pool, and Theory of a Deadman, and the band will be playing the entire Dr. Feelgood album as part of their set. They’re toying with breaking it up into two halves. |
Vince talked about why now is the time for Dr. Feelgood. |
“Well people don’t realize that it’s a twenty year anniversary since releasing Dr. Feelgood, so it seemed like a great idea. It’s gonna give fans different songs to hear. A lot of those songs that are on that record we have never even played live before.” |
So do Motley Crue get a sense of releif that there will be no competition this summer from OzzFest? Nikki explains. |
“Relief? I don’t know about that. OzzFest also paved the way for us to think about what we want to do in the future. Seeing OzzFest bringing out a lot of new bands, bringing out a lot of established bands and that it was a really fun thing in the summer. I think some of the bands here have all been on OzzFest before. I know I’ve been to a lot of them. Tommy has been to a lot of ’em, even hung out, and (to Tommy) you’ve even played on ’em. So, not so much that it’s canceled, but it’s exciting to see it have its run and do what it did for a lot of bands. Hopefully we can do the same thing.” |
The first Crue Fest will be released this Tuesday, March 24, on DVD. This year’s tour starts July 19th in Camden, New Jersey and wraps up September 5 in Darien Lake, New York. |
