MORE DETAILS SURROUNDING PROOF MURDER SURFACE
D12’s Proof, whose real name is DeShaun Holton, was shot and killed early Tuesday morning (April 11th) in an after-hours nightclub on Detroit’s 8 Mile Road, and now more details surrounding the rapper’s detah are coming to light. According to witnesses, Proof got into a beef with a bouncer, Keith Bender, at the CCC nightclub. Proof allegedly knocked the bouncer down and was standing over him with a gun when another bouncer, Mario Etheridge, allegedly shot the rapper four times— twice in the head and twice in the chest/stomach area. |
Proof, who was licensed to carry a gun, allegedly shot Bender in the head. The bouncer is currently in critical condition and according to a source, he’s on life support and isn’t expected to make it. |
“It’s like okay you got a record deal now. You’re not on the corner no more. Leave the street in the street. You don’t bring that stuff into corporate America. But what’s happenning was, they’re not wise enough. So what they think is the thing that’s selling them records is following them and taking them out. The very thing we’re trying to get away from is the very thing that’s killing us. It ain’t the police. It ain’t the parents. It ain’t the preachers. It ain’t the politicians. We the rappers have the power to change it. We do by what we do, what we say, and how we act.” |
Etheridge, who is Bender’s cousin, turned himself into police and is cooperating. The CCC nightclub has been visited by the police on 18 different occasions for various reasons, and Proof’s murder is the third shooting that has occurred in or near the club since 1996. |
