MICK JAGGER SAYS FILM AND MUSIC ARE BOTH MAGIC
Mick Jagger says their new movie Shine A Light gives a great look at the Rolling Stones and their audience, and finds similarities in film and music. |
Mick Jagger is centerstage in the movie Shine A Light, which documents the band’s two-night run at New York City’s Beacon Theater. The movie opens in theaters on Friday, April 4. |
Mick Jagger said that Scorsese did a great job in capturing the magic that happens between the Stones and their audience. |
“You see the relationships of people. I think Marty manages to capture all these small things that go up to make these intimate relationships. You see a lot of things in this movie that you wouldn’t see in any other movie like this. He shot this movie because he wanted to show this intimacy, and he wanted to show an audience intimacy. He wanted to show a band interacting on stage and how they work together, and how they relate to each other.” |
Jagger also compared filmmaking to recording. |
“I like the process of filmmaking. It’s got a lot of similarities with making music and making records. Making films is a very collaborative process, and it was really interesting working with Marty on this process, because while Marty is a director where the buck stops, yet he’s very collaborative.” |
Speaking of recording, The Rolling Stones are offering an online version of the Soundtrack album at their website rollingstones.com, and the album is currently in stores. It features the classics, “Jumping Jack Flash,” “She Was Hot,” and “Paint It Black” among others. |
