MICHELLE PFEIFFER FINDS EVIL DELICIOUS

Michelle stars as the evil Velma Van Tussle in Hairspray.

Michelle Pfeiffer stars as Velma Van Tussle in Hairspray, the coordinator of the Corny Collins show who will stop at nothing to get her daughter Amber played by Brittany Snow to keep her reign as the dance queen when an overweight Tracy Turnblad threatens her title.

Michelle says she enjoyed playing the villain in the story.

“It’s kind of scary how delicious it is to be evil. Then what you have to be careful of is as you get further and further into shooting you just get a little carried away and then they have to reel you back in but it was really fun. I sort of looked at her as being kind of pitiful and I think she kind of is.”

Being evil while singing and dancing and twirling a baton was much more of a challenge to Michelle who had to master the choreography of the Corny Collins dance numbers.

“Not only did I have to learn the steps and it’s not really that complicated of a dance but for me it was more challenging. Then Adam decides he wants me to twirl a baton in the middle of the whole thing. So it’s sort of like this thing going on but I really had fun and I really looked forward to doing it.”

Michelle continues her evil streak as a 5,000 year-old witch in Stardust.
