MICHAEL MOORE: MONEY RULES HEALTHCARE
Michael Moore says money is the root of evil American healthcare system. |
Michael Moore discovered there’s no cure for the American healthcare system while filming Sicko because the companies are ruled by the all mighty dollar instead of making sick people well again. |
Moore even spoke to people in the healthcare system who’s job was to deny people their claims to save their company billions of dollars. |
“When I started making the film I thought, well we just need to reform a few things or fix a few things here and there. As we got deeper and deeper into the subject it became clear that we needed to scrap the system we have. There is no way to fix it because the system we have is based on profit. And there should be no room for profit when we’re talking about taking care of each other.” |
Michael Moore says health insurance should be less about making money and more about treating the sick. |
“The thinking of ‘are we gonna make money off of this patient should never enter the equation. The only thought should be how are we going to get the patient well. We have a system that first says, ‘wait a minute who’s gonna make some money off of this?’ As you know if you ever go to the emergency room the first question, ‘health insurance card? Who’s your carrier?’ No, first question is, ‘what can we do to help you right now?’ That’s the way it is on virtually every other country on this planet, not here.” |
Money is not absent from the healthcare system in other countries completely. In the film Moore visits a hospital in London which practices universal healthcare where the doctors are actually given cash incentives for every sick person they cure. |
