MICHAEL C HALL BECOMES BLOOD EXPERT
When we last left Dexter Morgan, the blood splatter expert for the FBI by day and secret serial killer vigilante by night, he discovered the infamous Ice Truck killer was his half brother. |
As season two begins, Michael C. Hall as Dexter is fully prepared to take out the cold-blooded murderers stalking Miami Dade. Personally he isn’t very squeamish when it comes to the sight of blood. |
“Yeah, no it’s never been something that’s made me particularly skittish especially if I know definitively that it’s fake. I’m OK pretending it’s real, knowing it’s real is maybe another story. It’s sort of a mixture of corn syrup and food dye and it’s actually kind of sweet to the taste. There was a shot where I got some in my face when you see Dexter’s first kill in the third episode of the first season he’s not quite prepared for how it’s all gonna go down and he gets a little in his mouth.” |
In preparation for the role Michael met with a blood spatter expert in Miami and read interviews conducted with serial killers to get into Dexter’s head. He talks about what really gets Dexter’s blood boiling. |
“I think more than anything it’s not really the killing. That’s like oh what a relief, I finally get to kill somebody and everything is under control, you know. It’s all the other stuff. His life is in a state of chaos even moreso in the second season. He’s sort of being forced to go under cover to a degree because Doakes is really on his tail, following him everywhere. He can’t kill anybody. He’s bowling with the bowling team. He’s keeping a low profile and on top of that there emerges an FBI investigation focused on a new killer whose bodies have emerged. That’s all I’ll say and it may well be Dexter.” |
The second season features Keith Carradine, an FBI profiler famous for catching serial killers who no doubt will clash with Dexter, which premieres Sunday, September 30th on Showtime. |
