Meat Loaf was joined by Motley Crue’s Nikki Sixx, newcomer Marion Raven, Todd Rundgren and producer Desmond Child in announcing the release of Bat Out Of Hell 3: The Monster Is Loose. They all announced at a press conference at The Avalon in New York City that the album will be released on Halloween, October 31. |
Meat Loaf said that he’s not trying to hide the fact that he is using the name for marketing, however he wouldn’t put the tag on it if the collection wasn’t worthy. |
“I’ve been along for the ride, and it’s been a fantastic ride, so the… Everybody here is here for a reason and you go, the first reaction to Bat Out Of Hell 3 is, ‘Oh. Bat Out Of Hell 3,’ and your second reaction is ‘Yeah right! I don’t think so. They’re just doing it as a marketing tool.’ You’re right. It is a marketing tool — and a damn good one. Yeah it is, and we’d be a fool not to tell you that. But once you get past the marketing tool, that only lasts so long, then you have to actually produce the product.” |
Meat Loaf also talked about why the time was right for the third installment of Bat Out Of Hell. |
“It became viable that it was going to be called Bat 3 when we had it together. Because at any time that I didn’t think this was viable enough to be Bat 3 I’m not going to sit here and call it that. I’m not going to subject an audience to that. I’m not going to subject myself to that. I’m not going to do it. It has to be an extraordinary piece of work. From my viewpoint I’ll tell you what it’s got to be. It’s got to be this: I’m sitting here with you and I’m going to play you this record. And I’m excited to play you this record. I am excited to play you this record. I truly excited. I want to put this record on, I want to sit and watch your face. I want to look at you and I want to watch your face go, ‘Wow.'” |
Nikki Sixx wrote songs for this Bat Out Of Hell as well as the last one and he compared the two. |
“Well the first time around we wrote four songs, me and James Michael. This time it was a little bit different. It was with Meat sort of saying, ‘I have this concept and there are no rules connected to this. On the first one when me and James wrote ‘Man Of Steel’ it was a very epic piece, but it did fit to a format. It was crafted as a real song, and it had its peaks and valleys. With The Monster Is Loose all rules were off. And for us we wanted to push it, and push it, and push it, so that Meat Loaf wasn’t the driving force behind the song. And Meat Loaf is going to have to get this song and go, ‘Wow, this is really a beast.’ And then to see him get on top of that and drive it, it was really invigorating.” |
The first single from Bat Out Of Hell 3: The Monster Is Loose is “It’s All Coming Back To Me Now,” a duet with Raven. |
