MATT DILLON’S DATE MOVIE
Matt Dillon says that his new movie, Factotum, could be the best relationship role he’s ever had, and he talked about the role, crabs, and challenging scenes… |
Matt Dillon stars in Factotum based on the Charles Bukowski novel, playing the quirky author’s loser alter ego Hank Chinaski, an alcoholic who goes from one dead end job to another in the hopes of getting his poems published. Hooking up with Lili Taylor, they proceed to have a drunken love affair that is going nowhere but they can’t seem to stay away. Matt says he’s familiar with that kind of relationship. |
There was so much trust between the two actors that Matt allowed Lili to wrap his naked bottom in gauze when his character contracts a sexual disease. The scene could’ve been potentially embarrassing but Matt says it works. |
“Working with Lili Taylor was terrific because we both threw caution to the wind and we had a sense of trust and we made a connection with each other. And I think it’s the passion that Hank and Jan have for each other which is really great. I’ve been in relationships like that, two people who can’t stay away from each other and yet they can’t get it together and they can’t get along. And so in a funny way, it’s a love story. It’s a dysfunctional love story. It’s kind of a date movie for dysfunctional people. It may be the biggest relationship movie I’ve ever done ironically.” |
Factotum opens in theaters Friday. |
“At first I’m like how are they gonna shoot this scene? I end up in a sumo diaper. I guess people will have to see the film but Hank ends up getting crabs and puts way too much ointment on it and ends up getting a rash and she wraps him up in gauze. I guess to explain it it’s kind of crazy but it worked. It was one of those things like thank God it worked.” |
