Matt Dillon and Michael Douglas Battle In Dupree

They say the hardest thing for a father is to lose his little girl when she gets married which is highly exaggerated in the comedy of You Me and Dupree. Michael Douglas will do whatever it takes to undermine his new son-in-law played by Matt Dillon. Matt says it’s not uncommon for there to be tension between the husband and his father-in-law.

Michael Douglas makes Matt Dillon’s life miserable in the film by excluding him from bonding on fishing trips, and giving him a promotion at his firm only to sabotage it. Michael says the dysfunction is all in good fun.

“It’s not an unheard of dynamic; it’s universal. I think what they’ll find in this story is that it’s much more extreme which is what’s funny about it. I mean it’s off, it’s strange and the things that are being laid on Carl by his father-in-law are sort of beyond what anybody should ever expect.”
