MATT DAMON MAKES DRUG BUST FOR THE DEPARTED

(VIDEO) When researching the role of a Boston police detective in The Departed Matt Damon joined them in a drug bust.

Massachusetts born Matt Damon was eager to play a detective from the Boston State Police Department in The Departed because he knew the city well but what he didn’t know as well was how the cops operate. So Damon decided to join the state police to observe how they make arrests including the bust up of a crack house.

Matt however did not take the same risk as the officers he was shadowing. He wore a bullet proof vest and didn’t enter the crack house until the coast was absolutely clear of danger. The Departed opens Friday in theaters.rn

“Preparing for the role I spent a lot of time with the state police and did all these kind of interesting things, rode around with them. People hear about ride-alongs so that’s what I did and just spent some days with them watching them following them around. At one point going in on a drug bust with these guys and going into a house with them watching how they did that. It was really humbling to watch these guys and their commitment to what they do and what they do everyday with families at home. They take tremendous risks.”
