MATCHBOX TWENTY TO RETURN
Matchbox Twenty has announced that they will be reuniting for a one-night only show on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day in Las Vegas at the Joint in the Hard Rock Hotel. Vocalist Rob Thomas said of the reunion, “I haven’t played with these guys in two years, and we all thought it would be a blast to get together and celebrate the New Year.” |
Most of the members of the band worked on side project, with Rob Thomas getting the most noteriety from his solo work. In an interview a few years ago, the last time Matchbox Twenty was a band, Kyle Cook and Brian Yale said there’s a bond between the musicians that goes back a decade. |
[Cook] “Something happens when you…. We made three records, we’ve been together for… We’re pushing over a decade now of being a band.” [Yates] “The core three of us Me, Rob, and Paul were in a local band before this.” [Cook] “So they’d been playing together even longer.” [Yates] “We’ve been playing over ten years already. It’s pretty amazing.” |
Matchbox Twenty’s three albums have sold a whopping 22 million copies worldwide. The band released their debut, Yourself Or Someone Like You, in 1996, and it was the song, “Push,” that launched their career. |
