MASTODON HOPING FOR BLOOD MOUNTAIN WARNER RELAPSE
Mastodon’s Blood Mountain was one of the most successful Hard Rock/Metal releases in recent memory and Brent Hinds was asked about the next one. |
Mastodon guitarist Brent Hinds is currently playing with Fiend Without A Face, a heavy psychobilly band, and he’s taking a much needed break from his bread-and-butter. Mastodon released Blood Mountain on Warner Brothers records, and it was a resounding success both creatively and sales wise in terms of hard rock/metal sales. |
We asked guitarist Brent Hinds about working on the follow-up to Blood Mountain. |
“I’m in no hurry with it at all right now. Now I’m just enjoying some time off. We were on the road for fourteen months and I’m enjoying some time off, and I’m enjoying playing with Stiff Penalty, and me and him are going to try and concentrate on Fiend Without A Face right now and try to get our…an album out. [We’re going to ] try and get this more lucrative so we can actually… I’m sure he’d much rather do this for a living rather than hanging windows and doors. I already play music for a living, and I want to continue to play music while my other band is not playing music so…” |
We also asked Hinds to compare Mastodon’s new home of Warner Brothers Records with their former indie label, Relapse. |
“That’s like the best move that band has ever done. Relapse was really, really, really a horrible label and f–ked us in the a– pretty good. I made some good friends there, but their work ethic and the way they treat their bands is not the coolest thing ever at all, not even in the least bit way.” |
Mastodon recently played the Foo Fighters 2007 MTV VMA suite, and they’ll perform at the forthcoming Vegoose festival next month in Las Vegas. |
