Mary J. Blige’s latest single, “Be Without You,” peaked earlier this year at Number One on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The song is one of the singer’s best performing singles and she recently explained that it’s very close to hear heart. Blige said,

Blige latest album, The Breakthrough, had the the best opening week for a solo R&B female artist in the Nielsen SoundScan era. The singer’s album, which includes appearances ny Jay-Z and U2, is already approaching double platinum after only a month in stores.

“Well ‘Be Without You’ is song that’s really, really close to my heart right now because it’s a way that I never felt in my life. I never felt like I couldn’t be without a man. I always felt like very independent, very strong, and I’m very independent don’t get me wrong. It’s just the love for the person that I have that I rather be with him then be outside hanging out without my girlfriends because he’s a good guy. He’s not beating, cheating or disrespecting me, and I’m not doing anything to him. He’s my best friend.
