MARY AND JOSEPH JOURNEY TO BETHLEHEM

With only weeks away until Christmas it’s the perfect time to tell the story of the birth of Jesus in The Nativity Story starring Keisha Castle-Hughes as Mary. The film tells the biblical tale of Mary and Joseph and their journey to Bethlehem, her miraculous pregnancy and the history defining moments of her virginal motherhood.

Because the actual locations of Bethlehem and Nazareth have become modernized over the years, the production took place in Matera, Italy previously used for the Passion of The Christ. Keisha still felt as though she was in Nazareth 2,000 years ago.

“You don’t want to go ahead and change it all because we’re still telling their story. We’re just delving deeper into it, the emotions of it. What have I ever done that’s so worthy to have the son of God because I mean because no matter how well and how good and pure you live your life I don’t think no one’s gonna feel they’re worthy that God would want you to have his child.”

“On the set of Nazareth we learned how to make bread and goat’s cheese and milk goats. It got you so into it and on the set you didn’t have to do anything because you were there 2,000 years ago. You were making bread how they made it.”
