Martin Sheen plays the station owner of the urban music radio station where Don Cheadle as Petey Green takes over the airwaves in Talk To Me. |
Martin talks about Cheadle finding his own voice within the character. |
“Of equal importance is Don Cheadle in the role of Petey Green because he immersed himself in this character and managed to find his own voice within Petey Green that had a very profound affect on the film.” |
The veteran actor who is a civil rights activist himself says Cheadle gave an award winning performance. |
“I think it’s his best performance and it’s clearly about something he cared about. And though he’s too young to remember the civil rights period of the sixties and the turmoil of the protests of the Vietnam War and all the other chaotic events that were going on in 1968, he managed to capture some measure of his own personality, his own character and you could tell that he was having a good time.” |
Martin has done his own dabbling in radio. He was a guest on the Garrison Keillor show A Prairie Home Companion and was a radio host where he was only heard on an episode of the television series Studio 60 on The Sunset Strip. |
