MAROON 5 NEW ALBUM BEFORE LONG MAY 22

Marroon 5 is all set to release their new album, It Won’t Be Soon Before Long, on May 22, in what could be the most pressure-filled sophomore effort in history.

Maroon 5 have set the release date of May 22 for their new album, It Won’t Be Soon Before Long. It’s the band’s second album following their smash debut Songs About Jane. The band supported the album for over three years, and the new album features strong tracks including “Little Of Your Time,” “If I Never,” and “Makes Me Wonder,” the first single from the album.

Levine called the album “definitely upbeat, aggressive, and pounding.” While they’re not going metal anytime soon, the band found a sense of purpose with the album. Singer Adam Levine and company had huge success with “This Love,” and he said in an interview a while back that it’s daunting to write a new album in its shadows.

“Yeah, you feel that, because you’re like, ‘Holy s–t. I wrote this song, and it was so famous, huge, everyone knows it. They sing it at our shows, and all you get on the street is, ‘I love that song.’ You build this up like it’s a big thing. You can’t igonore that, but at the same time you have to train yourself to forget about it so you can write a song that’s still sincere.”

The band won 2005’s Best New Artist Grammy and even though it was two years ago, the shadow of Songs About Jane loomed large. Backstage accepting their award, Levine and the band said they didn’t want to write music, well, that sucked.

“Well, that’s up to each individual artist. You can decide that you want to be bad, or you can decide that you want to make good records. I think we’re going to choose the latter.”

Songs About Jane has sold ten million albums worldwide, and has sold four million units in the United States alone.
