With their sophomore album ‘It Won’t Be Soon Before Long’ debuting at Number One on the Billboard 200 album chart, Maroon 5 announced their first headlining arena tour and the band has teamed with Global Cool to ensure their tour stays Carbon Neutral as well. ‘It Won’t Be Soon Before Long’ is the follow-up to Maroon 5’s debut ‘Songs About Jane’, which sold 10 million albums world-wide and the band celebrated their Arena Tour announcement with a special performance for a few hunderd lucky fans at The House of Blues in Hollywood, Ca. After a brief run of small clubs to kick off the release of ‘It Won’t Be Soon Before Long’, Maroon 5 couldn’t be more excited to be playing in bigger venues. |
We caught up with Maroon 5’s Adam Levine and James Valentine to talk about the bands first ever headlining arean tour. |
“We are very excited about this especially because we get to play Staples (Center), home of The Lakers. And Madison Square Garden, home of The Knicks. Boo! I’m just kidding, The Knicks are actually great. Great now, we’re not going to sell any tickets to that show.” |
Global Cool will work closely with Maroon 5’s production team, management and the boys themselves to reduce the carbon emissions produced by the world tour before offsetting the remaining emissionsrnthat cannot be reduced. For its part, Maroon 5 will donate $1.00 for each ticket purchased in North America to buy offsets that go towards making the tour “carbon neutral”. |
“Global Cool is amazing and they focus on the things the individual can do on a daily basis that can really make a collective impact, as far as reducing the CO2 that we put into the world. We, as a band, put emissions into the atmosphere everyday, especially with the amount of buses and jets and fancy things that we fly on. So, what we’re going to do is we’re going to take a dollar from each ticket and we’re going to give that to Global Cool and hopefully help with the problem. It’s called Carbon Neutral and it’s basically the concept of writing a check and giving back for the emissions that you put into the world.” |
Maroon 5 also talked about their partnership with Global Cool. |
Maroon 5 will kick off their World Tour in support of ‘It Won’t Be Soon Before Long’ September 29th in Detroit and it extend until November 10th in Las Vegas and it will hit 28 North American cities. Special guest The Hives have been announced as the opening band and tickets go on sale beginningrnSaturday, July 14th and are available through Live Nation. |
