MAROON 5 EXCITED FOR NEW SONGS WITH A SENSE OF URGENCY
Maroon 5 are set to release their highly anticipated new release ‘It Won’t Be Soon Before Long’ and the band talks about the songwriting process |
After a five year distance between new albums, the two time Grammy Award winning band, Maroon 5, are ready to release their follow up to their multi platium ‘Songs for Jane’, which was released in 2002. Maroon 5’s latest album ‘It Won’t Be Soon Before Long’ shows the band making a conscious decision to write more up tempo, danceable songs. |
We caught up with Adam Levine and James Valentine of Maroon 5 to discuss the songwriting on ‘It Won’t Be Soon Before Long’ and their decision to make an more dance orientated album. |
“I think one thing that’s different, I think the most obvious thing is the difference in the songwriting. On this record we set out to make a more danceable record. A lot of the songs on the last album were sort of mid tempo and a little more laid back groove. The beats on this record have more of a sense of urgency.” |
After the critically acclaimed ‘Songs for Jane’ went multi platinum and won countless awards, does the band feel the pressure of following up their past success with another great album. |
“Yeah, I think there’s definitely pressure, but we’re mostly excited about it. I think we’re more supportive as a whole as a band of this record. It’s a better feeling surrounding the release of this album than there was the first time around. We were more insecure, kind of confused and not sure what was going on the first time.” |
Maroon 5 are set to release ‘It Won’t Be Soon Before Long’ on May 22nd. The video for the bands first single ‘Makes Me Wonder’ has already been released and the single enjoyed the largest jump to Number 1 in the history of the Billboard Hot 100 as the song went from #64 to #1. Maroon 5 will first hit the road in a run of small club tour dates in support of their new album beginning May 30th in Boston and extend until June 25th in Osaka, Japan. Look for the band opening for The Police July 10th, 2007 at Dolphin Stadium in Miami, Flordia. A more extensive run of tour dates will soon be announced as well. |
