MARK WAHLBERG GOES AFTER DRUG MOB
Mark Wahlberg stars as a cop in the NYPD who investigates his brother’s mobbed up club for drugs. |
Mark Wahlberg stars in We Own The Night portraying an up and coming NYPD officer whose father, played by Robert Duvall is a respected and feared chief of police. |
When the drug trade in 1980s New York City hits the Russian-owned nightclub managed by his brother, the rules change on the street. |
“He’s trying to please his dad but I don’t really think he knew what being a cop entailed. I don’t think anybody that close to him had been hurt the way he had. He was always safe. He was kind of under daddy’s wing and he started getting a little bit bold. Obviously the drug deal that they go up against, these Russian mob guys were something that they weren’t used to dealing with.” |
We Own The Night was tailor written for Mark by director James Gray who worked with him on one of first films. |
“You know We Own The Night was something that was written specifically for me. Me and James had done The Yards together and he was writing his next film and wanted me to be a part of it. I just think he’s got the kind of talent where you don’t even have to read the script. You just kind of show up and do it exactly the way he wants it.” |
Mark does more than just show up. He is currently filming The Happening in Philadelphia, a paranoid thriller from M. Night Shyamalan and at the same time working out Rocky Balboa style to play a boxer in the upcoming Mickey Ward story, The Fighter. |
