MARIAH CAREY COMPLETES COMEBACK
Fantasia Barrino has completed her comeback with her new album, Side Effects Of You, and despite her own hardships she learned life lessons from the plights … |
Just a few years ago, Mariah Carey was on the brink. She was briefly hospitalized after suffering a break down and she was released from her multi-million dollar recording contract with Virgin Records. After joining the roster of Island Def Jam Records, Carey began her comeback and with her second release under the new agreement, The Emancipation of Mimi, she did the unthinkable. She became the Number One selling artist of 2005 and on Wednesday night she she added to her collection of Grammy Awards by taking home three awards at the 48th Annual Grammy Award in Los Angeles. |
The singer won best R&B song, best contemporary R&B album, and best female R&B vocal performance. The day before the show, Carey shared her thoughts on attending the Grammy Awards and performing. She said, |
“I think there’s gonna be a lot of incredible performances this year so that’s really…that’s a plus. That’s really nice. You know it’s always, it’s mind boggling to be in a room with so many stars and so many people that are legends and that are just sitting there. Like I know that this year Sir Paul McCartney is going to perform so that’s always an honor, to be able to to be in the, you know, same room with him you know? And that’s just naming one incredible talent out of the zillions that are going to be there. So since the first year I ever came here, it’s just been like, ‘Wow.’ You know I’m looking forward to it.” |
Carey’s previous Grammy Awards were for best new artist and best pop vocal performance female in 1990. |
