MARIAH CAREY AND MARY J BLIGE HAVE SIMILAR CREATIVE PROCESSES

Super producer Brian Michael Cox has worked with Usher, Fantasia, Jagged Edge, Tyrese, Lil Mo, Monica, Tamia, Ginuwine, Nate Dogg, Dave Holllister, Dru Hill, Toni Braxton, J-Kwon, Da Brat, Destiny’s Child, Mariah Carey, and Mary J. Blige.

The producer shared that in the studio Mariah Carey and Mary J Blige have similar creative processes. He explained,

“There are similarities. They’re both really hands on. Mariah and Mary are both hands on. Really I think about it, it’s really similar really. Like Mariah will come to the studio with some ideas you know we’ll hash them out. The only difference Mary will kind of let us vibe with her, you know what I’m sayin’? We’ll vibe with Mariah but a lot of time, Mariah, she has a clear cut view of what she wants to say. She’ll have verses and things like that already. But we’ll vibe with Mary and come up with things with her. You know it’ll be like right on the spot where Mariah may come to the studio with ideas. That’s the only difference but for the most part, it’s pretty similar. Pretty much.”

Cox is currently working with Whitney Houston and Joe. Houston native has also launched his own label, the Beat Factory. So far he has signed Q, Bella, Dirty Rose, and Dave Young.
