MANNIE FRESH HAS LEFT THE BUILDING
Producer Mannie Fresh was the cornerstone of Cash Money Records empire as he produced all of the label’s earliest hits from artists like Juvenile, Lil’ Wayne, the Big Tymers, and the Hot Boys. The producer recently left the label saying, “It’s official that I’m not with them (Cash Money) no more, but I’m doing my own thing. It ain’t a situation where we gonna be name-calling and going back and forth. It’s just me maturing. It’s time for me to do me. It’s no bad blood.” |
While the producer’s decision to leave may come as a surprise to some. He hinted late last year that he was beginning to take a back seat. He said, |
“You know I got time and I got paper, you know? Not just money paper, I got ink paper involved in this, you know what I’m sayin’, as far as Cash Money so I’m always do mine. I’mma get mine but at the same time you gotta know sometimes when to slow down and let somebody else shine.” |
There’s no word yet on the future of the Big Tymers, a group made up of Fresh and Cash Money Records co-CEO Bryan “Baby” Williams. Fresh has been producing hits for Young Jeezy, David Banner, Young City, and other in recent months. |
