In 2005 Houston was the hot bed of talent in the hip hop community with artists such as Paul Wall, Mike Jones, Slim Thug, and Chamillioniare making the transition to major labels. While these artists were new to the world, they were already well established acts in their region. Now it appears that the major labels are clammering to Houston in search of the next big stars but they’re wasting their time if you ask Swishahouse Records CEO Gee Dash. |

“They running down there and getting the wrong ones cause you know…. They just think just cause a kid rap and have that southern slang that they gonna be able to put him in front of the world and he gonna do something. It don’t work like that. Like they say we groom these artists before we put them out there.” |
