LUPE FIASCO SAYS HE IS COMFORTABLE BEING THE POSITIVE RAPPER

Chicago-based rapper Lupe Fiasco is hard at work on his sophomore album, The Cool, which he plans to release this summer. The rapper hopes that the new album will not be victimized like his debut album, Food & Liquor, which sold a disappointing 260,000 copies due to several release date issues and rampant bootlegging.

Fiasco, who was nominated for three Grammy Awards for his debut, shared that he’s very proud to be considered a positive rapper. He said,

“Um probably, the positive rapper. Not no official category, it’s not to official you know like best rapper. But to be looked at as the inspiration for the next generation of young black males you know to push positivity as opposed to negativity is dope to me. No matter you know if I sell ten records. You know but to be looked at as that and to know that I am that is dope and I’m happy.” 34

Fiasco currently has his own sneaker deal with Reebok and he’s currently working on a new clothing line. The rapper will also be working on the debut project from his protege, Gemini, which will be released through his own 1st and 15 label.
