LUPE FIASCO LOSES PARTNER TO PRISON

Rapper Lupe Fiasco will be running his 1st & 15th Record label by himself now since his business partner Charles “Chilly” Patton was sentenced to 44 years behind bars for allegedly dealing heroin. Patton was sentenced last month by Cook County Judge Dennis Porter despite several letters by record company executives on his behalf. Fiasco wrote in his letter to the judge, “I love Charles . . . I am deeply saddened by his circumstances and will stand by him and his family no matter what occurs.” |
Patton and his wife, Inita, were arrested in 2003 after police discovered six kilos of heroin they had stored in a suburban storage locker. According to the Patton’s they let a friend use the storage facility and were unaware that drugs were being stored there. |
“The second album is called The Cool. I’m kind of building it to be a little bit more direct on one subject where as Food & Liquor was kind of everywhere. So maybe, maybe not, you know we’ll have to see. There’s only three ladies and gentlemen. Three, one down, two to go.” |
During the trial, Fiasco was called to the stand to testify because of several taped conversation he had with Patton where he discussed splitting up “whole yellow” and “whole red” ones. The rapper said that the two men were discussing mixing and prepping music tracks but a prosecution witness testified that colors referred to the mixing and prepping of $10 heroin packets. Prosecutors were unable to establish a link between the 1st & 15th label and Patton’s drug profits. |
