Lupe Fiasco drops first single from ‘The Cool’. |
Lupe Fiasco will release his sophomore album, The Cool, on November 20th. The rapper recently leaked a single from the project titled, “Superstar” featuring Matthew Santos. The album will feature production by Pro and Soundtrack and guest appearances by Kanye West and Pharrell Williams |
Fiasco released his debut album, Food & Liquor, in 2006. While the album wasn’t a huge commercial success, it was well-received and critically acclaimed. Fiasco discussed what it was like to be heralded as trendsetter. He said, |
“No it’s dope. Everybody wants to….You know I want to set trends. You know I don’t want to follow trends you know what I’m sayin’? I want to start the new lane. I want to be the first dude out there testing that new car on that brand new freeway, you know what I’m sayin’? But I want to build the freeway as opposed to just riding on something that somebody else built. So that’s just my ambition. That’s my mentality. That’s how I think.” |
In related news, Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West, and Pharrell Williams have formed a super group named CRS (Child Rebel Soldiers) and the group so far has recorded one song titled “Us Placers.” Fiasco explained, “Now [our labels are] working it out. Whoever is going to pay is going to pay a whole hell of a lot. Everybody is excited, [but] ‘Us Placers’ is the only record we have.” |
