Luke went to bat for hip hop in the ’80s and won a Supreme Court legal decision that insured freedom of speech for rappers. Luke also was one of the first rap business men who launched his own independent Luke Records and helped to establish the southern hip hop scene. But the godfather of profanity rap doesn’t feel like he gets his props. He explained,

Luke will release a new album and two CD audio book, My Life & Freaky Times, on May 2nd. Jadakiss, Petey Pablo, Trick Daddy, Ludacris, Lil’ Jon, Pitbull, and Lil’ Flip are some of the artists featured on the new album.

“I don’t think, you know the press, the Vibes, the Sources, the XXLs of the world, you know and a lot of people of the world have really give me just due. You know the BETs of the world. You know I look at it like, I sit down and I think. I’m looking at AOL Top 25 Historical Hip Hop Artists and you don’t see no Luke in there. You look at VH1 25 Years of Hip Hop, don’t see no Luke, no 2 Live Crew.”
