LOU GOSSETT JR SAYS TYLER PERRY IS A CLASSIC DIRECTOR
Lou Gossett, Jr. puts Tyler Perry as a director right up there with Steven Spielberg. |
Veteran actor Lou Gossett, Jr. stars in Daddy’s Little Girls and was so impressed by new director Tyler Perry’s professionalism it reminded him of Hollywood’s classic directors like Steven Spielberg. |
The star of the classic film An Officer and A Gentleman compares Tyler to his directing heroes. |
“Tyler Perry is one of these great stories living homeless out of a car. I was teasing him I said, ‘you might’ve been homeless in a car but as big as you it had to be an Escalade.’ It was no tiny car, but he’s a success story. I think Tyler is one of those pleasant throwbacks. What I mean by a pleasant throwback, Mel Gibson is a pleasant throwback. Spielberg and some of those kind of guys, they’re artists and they’re the throwbacks. There are a lot of businessmen in our business and things are done for the dollar. It’s wonderful to prove that something of value and something of quality is worth a long dollar.” |
Lou says Perry’s directing style reminds him of another Oscar nominated director. |
“That’s kind of like a Clint Eastwood film. Clint sends the script to the production office and by the time everybody gets here everything is ready. Tyler is creating a family, a wonderful family.” |
Lou Gossett Jr has four films in the works. He is currently filming The Perfect Game based on a true story of the first Mexican baseball team to win the Little League World Series. |
