LOSTPROPHETS READYING NEW TRANSMISSION
(VIDEO) Lostprophets are set to release their new album, Liberation Transmission, next month. The band talked with us about working with the legendary Bob Rock. |
Lostprophets have completed the follow-up to the successful album, Start Something. Liberation Transmission is set to land in stores Tuesday, June 27, and the first single from the album is “Rooftops (A Liberation Broadcast).” |
The single has just been delivered to Alternative Rock radio, and the band recorded the album with the legendary Bob Rock. Rock appeared in Metallica’s movie Some Kind Of Monster and spearheaded that band’s biggest album, the Black album. Vocalist Ian Watkins and guitarist Lee Gaze talked about the new, evolved, effort. |
[Ian] “Yeah.” [Lee] “I think we’ve always had this realization, it’s just the thing that… [Ian] “We weren’t able to do it.” [Lee] “We probably had it on the first record. You know, at the time we thought we achieved it, but then we look back and go, ‘Hmm, it’s not quite what we wanted’ But you know that’s part of being in a band. You can always improving it.” [Ian] “I think we just felt more able to do it this time. We’ve always tried to do it on every album. That’s just what’s come out.” [Lee] “We could probably say the same on the next album, which is even better. And if you don’t then you’re doing something wrong.” |
The band also talked about working with Bob Rock. |
“Um, working with Bob was basically like you see on Some Kind Of Monster or A Year And A Half In The Life of Metallica. It was up and down, very fiery, very passionate, loads of arguments, loads of tantrums, but loads of cool times, loads of inspiration, loads of amazing ideas, and he challenged us a lot. He didn’t take any crap and really pushed us, and that’s what we needed.” |
Lostprophets kick off the U.K. version of their tour July 3 in Manchester. No U.S. dates have been announced at press time. |
