LOS LOBOS RELEASE THE TOWN AND THE CITY
(VIDEO) David Hidalgo of Los Lobos talks about their latest release ‘The Town and the City’ and the albums underlying themes of immigration, right here. |
Los Lobos, currently on tour in support of their latest release ‘The Town and the City’ draw on underlying themes of immigration on the new release and with the topic being hotly debated in US politics, it’s not often Rock and Roll bands touch upon the subject. With songs like ‘Road to Gila Bend’ and ‘The Valley’ Los Lobos, who originally hail form East Los Angeles, write about the struggles and tribulations of being an illegal immigrant in America these days. Lead guitarist, David Hidalgo discussed the bands central themes of immigration. |
Los Lobos will continue touring North America in support of ‘The Town and the City’ and it was announced the band will be playing two daets at the famed Fillmore in San Francisco December 8th and 9th. It was also announced Los Lobos will be special guests of Gov’t Mule for their show December 29th at the Beacon Theater in New York City. The band will also be performing with Umphreys McGee in Chicago, Illinois on December 30th. |
“One of the first songs we did was ‘The Valley’ and it’s like the beginning, it’s like it says in the song, ‘We’re here in the valley.’ They come to work here and they build this new life and it’s almost like the dream come true sort of thing. But as it goes on you lose your way and life gives you obstacles and life gets a little harder and you get confused and lost and at the end you’re trying to make your way back home. That’s the general theme of the album but certain songs like ‘Road to Gila Bend’ is about an immigrant coming across the border and trying to make it in California.” |
