LORDI TALKS CONAN AND FINNISHING AMERICAN TOUR
Lordi recently wrapped up their U.S. tour at Irving Plaza in New York City, and coming out to wish the band farewell was Sebastian Bach. The band had a relatively successful run of shows, with momentum building after their appearance on Conan O’Brien in early November. |
Mr. Lordi, leader of the Finnish horror rockers, talked about the conversation between him and Conan. |
“The funny thing is with Conan, he was like, ‘How tall are you?’ And he was measuring our heights. I was taller, but then again I do have to say that I wear platforms. Sorry to burst a bubble, but I wear really high platform so actually I’m a dwarf without the platforms.” |
He also said the band had just been getting rolling when they took off back home. |
“The more gigs we did the better it got. The last five or six shows, they have been awesome. So this should have been the start of the tour now, you know what I mean? It’s been awesome. It’s been really great.” |
We also asked Mr. Lordi if it was difficult financially to tour the U.S.. |
“Um, yes. Yes and no becuase we still haven’t done the full production here in the ‘States because… Then again on OzzFest we did use the pyro side of the production. We did have some backdrops and stuff, but usually we have a much bigger production in Euroope, but of course that costs a lot of money to ship it and do all this stuff. So unfortunately the American fans that want to see the full production they need to come to Europe to see it or they’ll have to wait until we build more success so there will be money enough to bring the full show. Hopefully, someday. I keep my long fingers crossed.” |
Lordi just released their new album, Deadache, and their first single is “Bite It Like A Bulldog.” The band are booking gigs for the spring and summer festival season and hope to be back in the U.S. next fall. |
