Lollapalooza is set to take place at Grant Park this weekend, August 3 through August 5, in Chicago’s Grant Park, and it features Pearl Jam, Muse, Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals, and Amy Winehouse among others. The festival is celebrating its third anniversary as a weekend festival after spending most of the 90’s and 2004 as a traveling festival. |
The festival was founded by former Janes Addiction and current Satellite Party mastermind Perry Farrell. The enigmatic singer was asked if this year will be the biggest Lollapalooza yet. |
“Yeah, it just may be. Yes, we’re anticipating things to grow all the time, and it’s going to be a smash.” |
Farrell talked about transforming from one of the most legendary traveling festivals to being a major destination festival for the summer. |
“Well, it’s been nice. I like the fact that we have almost like a backyard set up. We can keep bringing things into the backyard, and take a look at the backyard and change things around where when you’re on the road and touring you kind of just show up and it’s a flurry. You kind of hope things go well. You have to kind of hope that they have a nice backyard. This one, we’re kind of looking at it, and seeing how we can improve it year to year. It’s one of the greatest locations in the country for a show. Grant Park, it’s right in the heart of Chicago, right in the center just off of the water. And we’re surrounded by beautiful architecture, so it really is an ideal location.” |
Lollapalooza 2007 also features Daft Punk, My Morning Jacket, Snow Patrol, and Iggy And The Stooges. |
