The G-Unit’s Lloyd Banks will release his new album, The Rotten Apple, on September 19th but the rapper plans to keep recording up into the last minute. He told MTV.com, “I don’t stop recording until they tell me I can’t — ’cause some of your best come at crunch time.” |
So far the album features guest appearances by 50 Cent, Young Buck, Tony Yayo, Mobb Deep, Spider Loc, Timbaland, Scarface, Rakim, 8Ball, and Musiq Soulchild. |
“I mean well for me, hip-hop started a long time ago, you know what I’m sayin’? This is before all the glamour and the glitz, well atleast from my angle ’cause it wasn’t even a reality for me at the time. So it was mostly just the passion. I knew I wanted to rap since I was listening to Big Daddy Kane and them, you know what I’m sayin? So originality that’s what I try to bring. I don’t want to sound like nobody else in hip-hop. I want to keep it new. I want to be lyrical. You know it’s been a lot of controversy for the past couple of years so I’m just trying to take it back to the street where it started from.” |
Backstage at last month’s BET Awards, Banks broke down how he just wants to bring hip-hop back to the streets. The rapper said, |
The first single from The Rotten Apple is “Hands Up” featuring 50 Cent. |
The rapper released his platinum debut, Hunger For More, in 2004. |
