LIVE 8 DVD TO HELP AFRICAN PEOPLE
Live 8 – One Day One Concert One World, the DVD commemmorating the Live 8 concert this past July will hit stores November 8. The DVD features performances from the biggest artists across all genres including Green Day, Paul McCartney, Alicia Keys, Keith Urban and the reunion of the classic Pink Floyd line-up.< |
The collection is a spectacular three-disc set, a few of which feature full sets from the artists. Also included is rehearsal footage from London of Pink Floyd’s reunion. Although the collection is being released by Capitol Records, there is obviously a significant portion that will be given to the BandAid trust to further the cause of debt eradication for Africa. Alicia Keys was one of those performers who was at the Philadelphia event and she noted that it was strange to see such a beautiful continent and beautiful people faced with poverty.< |
“The most beautiful thing about Africa is the people. I’ve felt such energy. I’ve met young women who were 15 years old who were living with the AIDS virus and watched their family die from the AIDS virus but still are so bright and so focused that things will be better. I think that there’s so much beauty in the landscape. There’s so much beauty everywhere around you in Africa. There’s so much beauty. I think that’s what makes the fact that there’s so much poverty so striking.”< |
The Live 8 concerts took place July 2 in Berlin, Paris, Rome, London, and Philadelphia, and were among several other smaller gatherings. Also inlcuded on Live 8 – One Day One Concert One World is footage from the final concert, The Edinburgh Final Push, which was held in Scotland on the day the G8 leaders were meeting and lifted some of the continent’s debt. |
