LITTLE MAN IS A WAYANS FAMILY AFFAIR

Little Man is a Wayans family affair but it’s Shawn and Marlon who are the comedy team that drives the Wayans brothers. Marlon says they’re similar to another famous funny couple and practically twins since they’re only a year apart.

Big brother Keenen Ivory Wayans directed the film. The screenplay was a collaborative effort by all three brothers Marlon, Shawn and Keenan. For the most part Shawn says Keenen lets his brothers do their thing but gets precious about the written word sometimes.

“Me and Shawn’s kind of like Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau but we’re not white and older yet. Who knows what we’ll become when we get older but we’re gonna be grumpy old black men boy I know it. We were born a comedy team. My brother Shawn always says that we’re twins and I just so happened to come out late. Of course he came out prettier because he came out on top. And I came out a little bit shriveled up and funny looking but you know it’s all good.”

Marlon being the youngest has a different point of view if he crosses his older brother.rn

“He’s like that’s my word. I think I wrote that line. Keep it like that. It really works for the comedy. You’re gonna change the story structure if you change thee to the. But most of the time Keenen is cool. Keenen he’ll let you play. You’ll come up with something and then he’ll come up with something and then it becomes this whole other thing. He’s always trying to elevate the material. Always taking it up 10 notches from what it was when you read it. That’s the blessing of working with Mr. Keenen Ivory Wayans.”

“Sometimes I don’t want to get in the way of our director, my brother because I don’t want to get a spanking. Since I’m a kid he may look at me, ‘want to get the hell off set?’ I’m like, ‘OK.’”rn
