LITTLE MAN GETS BIGGER ON DVD
Little Man just got bigger on Widescreen DVD available in stores November 7. The film features Marlon Wayans as a tiny criminal on the lam who hides out with a married couple. Older brother Shawn Wayans wants kids desperately but there are complications. |
His prayers were answered as lo and behold a tiny bundle arrives on the doorstep in the form of a little Marlon and he’s taken in thinking he’s an abandoned baby. Marlon talks about the physical challenges of the role. |
“Unfortunately his enthusiasm for having babies is not matched by his bank account. His bank account is not. It can’t really accommodate kids at this particular time with his wife, but that doesn’t stop him from trying. So he wants to be a dad and he will be one.” |
Extras on the DVD feature deleted scenes, The Making of Little Man, and director Keenen Ivory Wayans reveals secrets of how six foot two Marlon became two foot six in a visual effects segment. |
“On top of that I got to play a baby so it’s a lot. In all this I can’t use my body, just my head. When I’m acting and I’m supposed to be driving in a car I’m really sitting on a box. And I’m really not in a car. When I’m running it’s really not me running, somebody else is running and I’m acting with my head. I might as well had my head chopped off and had that come to set. At least my body can be at home sleeping.” |
The little man that is used for Marlon’s body is played by Linden Porco who was nine years old when the film was shot. |
“Marlon had the most difficult job because he was isolated. He was on a green screen and he had to physically match everything that Linden did with his head. He came up with a very clever way of using a chair, one of those chairs that you can swivel chair and that way he could keep his head still and move his body in a fluid way. And he really did a brilliant job of capturing both.” |
