LITHGOW AND TAMBOR TEAM UP FOR BUDDY COMEDY
(VIDEO) John Lithgow and Jeffrey Tambor team up for the NBC buddy comedy Twenty Good Years about 60 year olds on the verge of an age-old crisis. |
Third Rock From the Sun star John Lithgow returns to the sitcom world in the NBC series Twenty Good Years joined by Arrested Development star Jeffrey Tambor as best friends living on the edge of their twilight crisis who will resort to anything to stay young. |
Don’t expect Jeffrey Tambor who plays a cautious widower judge in the series to be on the other side of a bungee cord. He says the closest he gets to living dangerously is turning the pages of a novel. |
“Well this is two old guys trying absolutely everything to keep themselves young. So by the same token there’s nowhere we won’t go. I have a line, ‘I want to hang glide over a live volcano. I want to track gorillas in the Congo. Literally they’re gonna do everything.” |
John Lithgow plays a surgeon who is suddenly told by his doctor on his 60th birthday that he has to slow down or else. The role was simpatico for Lithgow who recently celebrated the same milestone.rn |
“I’m not good with anything with the word jumping in it. I like to ride a bike. I like to read. That’s it. This is about as dangerous as it gets. I’m of the Jewish faith and we don’t bungee anything.” |
Twenty Good Years premieres tomorrow night at 8:30 on NBC.rn |
“I turned 60 this year and suddenly started noticing articles every where that this is the year that baby boomers turn 60. Well that’s me and the whole story is about two guys of my age who suddenly realize, ‘wait a minute we only have 20 good years left.’ Let’s make good use of every single day. It’s shot through with desperation and fear and anguish and yet hope and joy but mainly comedy.” |
