LINKIN PARK STUDIO ALBUM IN THE WORKS, FIRST HALF OF 2014 SAYS SHINODA
At the 686 coat event with proceeds going to Music For Relief, Linkin Park multi-instrumentalist Mike Shinoda was asked when fans will see a new studio effort and what it might sound like. |
Linkin Park last released an album of brand new material in 2003 with Meteora, and the band is working towards releasing a new disc in 2006. Most of the band is enjoying time off, but vocalist Mike Shinoda keeps on rolling with his new side project, Fort Minor. |
Shinoda is taking the hip-hop influenced band on the road, but he’s also eager to get to work on the new Linkin Park album. He described to us what fans should expect of the forthcoming release by the multi-platinum selling band. |
“The thing I would say to Linkin Park fans who want to know what the next album is going to sound like is that as they know, as we all know, labels had been kind of invented to describe the sound that we had. Rap-rock, and Nu-metal and all that stuff. I think a lot of our hardcore fans would agree that those labels, although descriptive in some cases, overall they don’t really describe us. And besides that, we don’t like to be held into a box. So, the bottom line is that I think the next record will break out of all those things.” |
Fort Minor is set to tour at the beginning of the year, but a record label dispute that may have caused the forthcoming album to be delayed has been resolved. Fans should look for the new effort in late 2006. |
